My sisters and I have been running ourselves ragged, finding the hottest new pieces for The Boutique this Spring…and holy moly, you guys are going to lose your minds!!! I am obsessed with so many of the Spring ’13 trends, I want it all….like yesterday. We had a field day at LA Market on Monday and are taking home all of our favorite little treats, so we can deliver them straight to your closets. We already have some of the new merchandise being delivered this week, and can’t wait for more to come!! Its a Spring Christmas and I am gorging myself in fashion this holiday season.

So, to make your lives a little easier (and dangle a fun fashion “carrot” for you all to enjoy), here are some of my favorite fashion trends (in street wear and beachwear) for this Spring/Summer….

1. Brights, Camera, Action - Bring your sunglasses ladies because this Spring and Summer season, its all about bright colors and fun patterns!!! Think bright pink, green, blue, yellow and orange!! I love these bright pieces paired with basics (like a bright fun tank with a pair of distressed denim skinny jeans and gladiator sandals). We are also super excited for our newest line of swimwear, Boys and Arrows Swimwear, which is delivering a bevy of beautiful, bright colors and an amazing tribal print that we can’t wait to hit the beach in!!

2. Patterns Please - This Spring is all about stepping out of the bland box and having fun with great floral and tropical prints. I think we are going to see a ton of really sweet pieces, like great flowy dresses and blouses, that incorporate a true “pop” with fun prints. One piece we can’t wait to receive is from our new line, BB Dakota!! The Talli top was featured in Cosmopolitan and Redbook Magaznine’s January issues and is a great example of a really versatile piece that incorporates a fun, tropical pattern.

3. Go Green - The go-to color this year is definitely all about embracing green!! We are seeing a ton of rich olive tones with the close of fall, and brighter emerald and a stunning mint making their way into the spring color palette. If you haven’t stopped by the Boutique and seen our newest addition of denim, you are going to die over our Jade Level 99 skinny jeans. Seen on celebs such as Minka Kelly, this denim is not only on-trend for this season, but can transition into a year-round piece as well!!

4. Adding a Punch - When it comes to the Spring and Summer months, I always tend to switch up my lip glosses a bit. I usually go for very soft pink and peach tones, but I am loving these traditional tones with a bit more of a punch. Instead of going for a basic, soft peach gloss, try one with a bit more of an orange hue (like Emma Stone in her new Cover Girl commercial). I think the same is true of your soft pink glosses….kick it up a notch with a bit brighter pink and you can simply add a little wow factor to your spring/summer look.

Fact of Life – One Must Be High Maintenance to Be Low Maintenance

by KaseyJanuary 10, 2013

Yes, you read that correctly. The youngest Perkins girl brought this astounding fact to our attention the other day, and I admittedly, cannot agree with her more. When Kristen first exclaimed this little gem of wisdom, I didn’t quite understand where she was going, so allow me to explain.

We all wish deep down that we could roll out of bed and look fabulous. Have glowing skin without a stitch of makeup on, frolic around with true and glorious “bed head” that looks oh-so sexy without touching our tresses, allow our brows to grow in naturally, with a perfect arch; no tweezing required. But lets be real. This exists only in the world of movie magic (which encompasses a brigade of beauty artists to create a very “natural look”). The sentence alone is wildly contradictory, and yet…absolutely true.

Which brings me back to my sister and her profound statement.

Why We Can’t Get Enough of Old Town Newhall. Newhall Has Swag.

by KaseyNovember 8, 2012

Old Town Newhall has major swag. When my sisters and I pondered all of the many choices we had in finding the perfect little abode for Faking it Flawless The Boutique, I never really felt that Newhall would be where we would eventually land. And here we are. And I am sort of obsessed.

Obsessed with Lyons Ave you ask? Yep…its true. Old Town Newhall has a unique and eclectic mix of the most adorable and fabulous mom and pop businesses in all of Santa Clarita, and I have absolutely fallen in love with every one of them. Newhall has character. There is a refreshing energy in Old Town Newhall that boasts individuality and an art culture, unparalleled to anywhere else in the SCV.

An Inside Look At Faking it Flawless The Boutique

by KaseyOctober 31, 2012

So many people have been wondering…what is this new boutique the crazy sisters of Faking it Flawless keep talking about? Okay, I lie. Probably only a handful of people are wondering…but I will divulge nonetheless.

This past summer, after one too many cocktails a-la my sister Kelly’s bachelorette party, we came to the drunken conclusion that we should open our own boutique. I mean it made sense, right? We love to shop, outfits always look better with a spray tan, and our clients are always asking where we got our clothes from…it seemed like the perfect marriage. But with no budget for this monstrous endeavor, and now, a hangover the size of Texas reminding us that it may not be realistic after all, we unanimously decided to listen to our stubborn Irish hearts and go for it anyway. In typical Perkins Girl fashion.

When we started to dream up what this little shop of ours would entail…how it would look, the energy it would have, the kind of clothes we would carry, we all agreed on one thing. We wanted our boutique to be reminiscent of our personal wardrobes. We wanted to carry luxury staples that every girl should own. Staples that sit in your closet season after season and never get “old” (you know…those pieces you cringe at purchasing but 5 years later are thanking your lucky stars you spent the money on because it still looks fabulous). But, we also wanted to carry trendier, unique pieces (that you don’t see at every shop in the mall) and that you can purchase for a great weekend outfit without going broke.

We wanted our space to feel clean, open and fresh. We wanted it to be a place that makes shopping easy and enjoyable. I absolutely loathe having to “dig” for a great piece in a small, dimly lit hellhole that blares obnoxious music. We wanted our space to literally be the antithesis of the aforementioned hellhole. And with beaming pride and satisfaction, I think we nailed it.

And here we are. 5 months later. Sitting in the most adorable little slice of heaven (or so I think) that we get to truly call our own. And it feels like home.

1 Simple Step to Flawless Skin – Falling in Love with BB Cream!!

by KaseyOctober 2, 2012

My sisters and I headed to the river a couple of weeks ago for a family trip. As always, I was faced with a mini dilemma. I think makeup is sort of taboo when you are at the river…the whole appeal of the river in my opinion, is that it offers up the opportunity to let your hair down, rock a river hat with a tank from the 80′s, sip on an ice cold beer in a koozie from the same decade as the tank, and just chill. Makeup doesn’t really fit into the whole river rat equation.

But, let’s be honest. I’m marginally more high maintenance than that. There’s instagram and facebook photos to be had…and my au-natural look doesn’t really cut it. So, this trip, my sister Kristen introduced to me to my new favorite cosmetic! And the best part? Its river rat friendly.

Smashbox BB cream (the BB stands for “beauty balm”) is an all in one cream that has a slight tint, for light, barely there coverage when you don’t want a fully made up look!!! Check out the description below…I purchased mine from Sephora for $39, and I am obsessed with how radiant and smooth it makes my skin look…
